Questions Questions Questions

I've made it this far into my educational career and this is my first on-line class. I know I have learned more from this one day on-line as I have in an entire semester. Sad thing is, I think the work, that has taken me 6 hours to complete, would probably have taken my 7th graders 20 minutes.

I am the principal of Valle Crucis School in Watauga County, NC. Our school is made up of about 450 Pre-K through 8th grade students. Our county is 8 of these schools that eventually feed into one high school. Our school is the third largest in the county.

My wife is a 1st grade teacher at Hardin Park and is currently working on her EdS from Appalachian State University. This is her first year in first grade after 15 wonderful years in Kindergarten. The joke around our house is that she has finally been promoted to first grade...it just took some time. She is excited about "looping" with her class this year and I know her principal has made her class her little "pet project."

After reviewing the ISTE standards it is apparent that NETS follow a "less is more" model. When you stop to think about the amount of information that is at the fingertips of many, it is somewhat ironic that the standards for educators can be summed up with 5 standards.

This is my first blog so I am somewhat nervous about working to produce something that could potentially be lost so I will end by saying that I am very excited to join you this semester and have enjoyed having the opportunity to read your blogs and get to know you.
